Shadow Demon Coalition is a well established DJ and MC collective which has been working in the Drum and Bass music scene for a number of years. The site contains a blog, artists section and a fully functional e-commerce shop selling downloads and merchandise.
Following the success of the Higher Stakes Recordings website, DJ Sly, one of the founding members of Shadow Demon Coalition asked us to do a new build based on a similar format to replace their ageing Flash-built site. They wanted a site with a design that reflected the dark and grungy Shadow Demon Coalition ethic which can be heard in their music, whilst possessing a simple but well-organised structure to showcase artists, tracks, artwork, as well as to sell downloads and physical merchandise such as clothing.
The backdrop for the theme is a subtle image of Shadow Demon on a dark, grungy and uncomplicated from which the colourful artwork of album releases and artist photography stand out well. The first thing that strikes the visitor is the grungy, worn lettering of the main navigation and the foreboding animated cityscape window.
The lower part of the homepage is a grid-view section showing products that can be purchased through the shop. Albums and EP Cover Artwork lead to a separate track page with MP3 clip Preview Player. Each track can be purchased and downloaded individually in MP3 and/or WAV formats. Clothing such as Hoodies and T-Shirts are also available to purchase with a selection of colours and sizes.
The site has an Artist section which showcases each artist with pictures, biography, social links and links to releases by each artist. Each artist page also has it’s own individual Twitter feed.
